EDMONDS — Detectives on Friday continued to piece together a shooting that happened inside an Edmonds house on Thanksgiving day.
A homeowner shot a man in the stomach after he allegedly tried to force his way inside her house in the 16400 block of 75th Avenue W.
The man, 22, remained at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
It was unknown why the man was trying to enter the house. Detectives were waiting for his condition to improve before trying to interview him, Edmonds police Sgt. Mark Marsh said. It’s unclear when investigators will be able to interview him.
The Edmonds woman called 911 after hearing someone pounding on her front door around 3:15 a.m. She armed herself with a handgun and went to the door. The suspect was pushing his way inside, police said. The woman tried to stop him and there was a brief struggle. The woman, 33, fired her gun, striking the man in the stomach.
Her husband, their three children, ages 14, 10 and 5, and a teenage friend were home at the time of the confrontation. No one else was injured.
