Kylee Berger of Everett captured the gold medal in the Senior Class Women’s Free Skating competition last week at the USA Roller Skating National Championships in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Berger, representing the Lynnwood Expressions, was in first place after the short program and maintained her hold on the top spot through the long program.

The win earned Berger, 21, a spot on the U.S. Senior National Team that’s scheduled to compete at the world championships on Nov. 14-17 in Brasilia, Brazil.

Also claiming a gold medal for the Expressions was Kelley Scace of Lynnwood. Scace, 46, won the Novice Men’s Singles division for the sixth straight year.

Scace also was part of the Northern Dynamics precision team that won a silver medal in the Senior Precision Team competition and earned a spot on the U.S. squad that will compete in Brazil.
