New EvCC trustee appointed

Mike Deller has been appointed to Everett Community College’s Board of Trustees. Deller, who graduated from EvCC in 1971, is a longtime supporter of the college. He’s the second of three generations connected to EvCC. His father, Bill Deller, was the dean of students at the college and later established the EvCC Foundation.

Camano farm wins statewide honor

The Washington Association of Conservation Districts has named Camano Island’s Kristoferson Farm the 2014 Wildlife Farmer of the Year for Washington State. The family-owned farm, known for its popular zip line tour, has made significant efforts to protect and maintain its 231-acre wildlife habitat. The farm grows certified organic hay and lavender and operates a sustainable timber business.

Blood pressure machines donated to Skagit Regional Clinics

The Skagit Valley Hospital Foundation has donated a number of automated blood pressure machines. Free blood pressure screenings are now available at the following locations: Skagit Regional Clinics — Mount Vernon, Skagit Valley Hospital — Kincaid Street Entrance, and Skagit Regional Clinics – Stanwood.

Work to begin on Port of Everett terminal

Starting this month, IMCO General Construction, Inc. will begin work on a $2.55 million upgrade project at the Port of Everett’s South Terminal to strengthen the wharf to support roll-on/roll-off cargo operations. This major infrastructure investment is made possible through a grant from taxpayers of Washington state. Work is expected to be complete in May 2015.

Authors speak at Grow Washington in Snohomish, Everett

This past weekend, Grow Washington hosted a Meet the Authors weekend with Helen Wand, author of “Where Eagles Nest,” and Christine Pattillo, author of “I Am We.” GROW Washington is a micro-enterprise business development center with locations in Snohomish and Everett. They are committed to helping artists, authors and entrepreneurs fulfill their dream and passion.
