The Edmonds City Council will consider Mayor Dave Earling’s nominee to fill a position on the Municipal Court at the Tuesday Council meeting. It’s the position that incumbent Judge Douglas Fair soon will leave to start the term on the South Snohomish County District Court that he won in the November election.
Earling has nominated Edmonds resident Linda Coburn to fill the position once Fair resigns.
Fair has said that he would resign in time to start his new position Jan. 12.
The “resolution of intent to confirm” on the Council agenda would speed the confirmation process. Final confirmation can come after Fair’s resignation.
Coburn is now a Snohomish County public defender.
The appointed judge can serve through the November 2015 election, when voters would fill the last two years of the four-year term that Fair won when he was re-elected in 2013.
