Home for the holidays at Granite Fall’s senior living community

For many folks, the holidays are a time of happy memories, especially those that come from childhood Christmases spent with family and friends. Being home for the holidays is a special treat and home means different things to different people—but one thing we have in common at this time of year is gathering together with those we love.

At GenCare Lifestyle the Village at Granite Falls, home is about the people who live and work right here all year round, but especially at Christmas time: home is where the heart is!

Home is a feeling we share

For Executive Director, Laura Williams, part of what she loves about The Village at Granite Falls is how small and intimate it is. She says, “we have an ‘at home’ feel. We all know each other. It’s just one big family!” Being part of the family is part of the job for Laura who remembers listening to a group of seniors telling snow stories over hot chocolate. She says that “this was the first time that it hit me that I work in their home. I feel very honored to be working in their home and a part of their lives. For me, home means family. Wherever family is, I am at home… and we become family here at The Village.”

Jane Reynolds, Fitness Director, holds her work family in similar esteem, saying that “it is my passion to help seniors to enjoy life in small or big ways… Something that is just in me. I like to call them my Super Seniors, they give back to me more than I give to them!” She says she loves to work with seniors. “I grew up with Grandparents I was close to…seniors have the most amazing life stories with lots of laughter.”

One of the great things about The Village at Granite Falls is that “it’s a small community where everyone knows your name – and your children’s and grandchildren’s names too. Jane expressed, “Our senior living community is a beautiful place to work. I love to see smiles on faces. I love to turn the day around for a resident who is not feeling up to par.”
