After a few weeks of unusually good late-season health, the Seahawks have some serious concerns heading into a huge NFC West showdown with Arizona. For the second straight day, 3/5 of Seattle’s offensive line sat out practice, with left tackle Russell Okung, center Max Unger and right guard J.R. Sweezy all watching from the sideline.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll didn’t mention Sweezy’s ankle injury after Sunday’s game or during his Monday and Wednesday press conferences, and the fact that Sweezy didn’t miss a play after suffering the injury late in the first half means there’s probably still reason to be optimistic on his status. Okung and Unger both sitting out again is probably not a good sign for their chance seeing as Carroll didn’t sound overly optimistic about either on Wednesday.
There was also a new name on the injury report, with rookie receiver Paul Richardson sitting out with a hamstring injury. As usual, Carroll doesn’t talk to the media on Thursdays, so an update on all of these players will have to wait until Friday.
One interesting note on Arizona’s injury report is that quarterback Drew Stanton was listed as a limited participant. Stanton hurt his knee in the Cardinals’ last game, and coach Bruce Arians said he was out this week, with Ryan Lindley starting. It’s entirely possible that this is just a bit of gamesmanship from the Cardinals, but we’ll know more tomorrow when teams have to slap a doubtful/questionable/probable designation on players.
