Gas prices have been dropping for weeks, coming in Dec. 16 at an average of $2.82 per gallon, 49 cents less than a year ago, according to AAA’s number-keepers.
That could mean more holiday travelers on the road — or not.
A record number of people are expected to hit the roads this holiday season, according to AAA.
But most of the 600 Seattle-area residents who responded to a GasBuddy survey on holiday travel plans said they don’t plan to travel at all for the holidays, and 81 percent said lower gas prices aren’t impacting any travel plans they do have.
Gas savings are ringing in at roughly $40 to $80 a month. What to do with that cash? In the survey, 85 percent said they’ll either put that extra money into the bank or pay off some bills. My, aren’t we a responsible bunch. Meanwhile, 14 percent said they’ll use the savings to buy some extra presents.
How about you? How are you spending your savings? Or do you drive an electric car and laugh at the rest of us?
