Jody Scott, has joined RE/MAX Direct Realty in Edmonds. Scott will offer expertise in serving veteran and current military families. Scott’s familiarity with the military comes from a long line of family members who served in various branches. Before entering real estate two years ago, she worked to help those with chemical dependencies.

Everett Burgermaster hosts Giving Tree

The Burgermaster at 7909 Evergreen Way in Everett is participating in a Giving Tree for the Snohomish Boys &Girls Club, Cascade Unit. Anyone can come in to take a tag and purchase a new, unwrapped gift for a deserving Snohomish boy or girl. All donations must be received by Friday.

Craft beverage, curio shop to open in Langley

Kalakala Co. Mercantile invites the public to attend the grand opening of its new store from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday at 138 Second St. in Langley on Whidbey Island. The business is a hybrid craft beverage bar and curio shop featuring handmade products for the kitchen, pantry, home, and body, as well as exclusive artworks.

Kohl’s to stay open 24 hours a day until Christmas Eve

Kohl’s Department Stores announced it will keep its doors open for more than 100 hours straight, from 6 a.m. Friday through 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve to allow customers 24-hour shopping access. In addition to extended store hours, Kohl’s will also offer savings opportunities and customer conveniences.

Economic Alliance CEO gives annual report

Troy McClelland, president and CEO of the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County, presented the annual report to the Mountlake Terrace City Council at its Dec. 1 meeting. According to the report, in the next five years the local population is projected to grow 5.3 percent, employment is projected to grow 8 percent and the real estate boom is expected to continue.

Washington ranks No. 1 in certified teachers

According to numbers released by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, Washington has the largest group of new National Board Certified Teachers for the second consecutive year. Of those 946 new certificated teachers across the state, 48 percent are from school districts within the Puget Sound Educational Service District region.
