An estimated 184,000 fall chinook spawned naturally in the Hanford Reach portion of the Columbia River this year, including adults and jacks, a record for overall escapement.
It was a record return year to the Priest Rapids Hatchery, at 77,000 fish. Anglers on the Reach caught a record number of fall chinook, 32,400 fish, and a huge jack return to the Reach and the Priest Rapids Hatchery could augur another big return next year.
