The Kruckeberg Botanic Garden in Shoreline is a treasure, even in December when most of its plants are asleep for the winter.
The public is invited in for the annual Solstice Stroll at Kruckeberg, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 19, 20 and 21 in the garden at 20312 15th Ave. NW, Shoreline.
During the longest nights of the year, the garden is lighted and strewn with garden art creations.
Enjoy refreshments and Christmas carols, all for a donation to the nonprofit garden foundation.
To make sure there’s plenty of room for all, people are encouraged to reserve a visit time. Go to bit.ly/1wyRs4l or call 206-546-1281, ext. 20. More information is at www.kruckeberg.org.
The Kruckeberg Botanic Garden Foundation was formed to conserve the Kruckeberg land and plant collection in perpetuity, as a garden, open space and horticultural learning center for the public good. The garden was founded in 1958 by University of Washington professor Arthur Kruckeberg and his wife, Mareen, who amassed the plant collection over more than 50 years in the property surrounding their home.
