Candlelight walk in Snohomish
Snohomish Mayor Karen Guzak is hosting the ninth annual solstice candlelight walk from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. The free event is to include luminarias along the Snohomish River. The walk is to take place on the Riverfront Trail between Avenue D and Cady Landing.
People should bring a luminaria to carry or a musical instrument to play. They’re also encouraged to bring hot drinks to share.
Artist Susan McManamen, who last year painted a piece under the light of her headlamp that was sold before it was finished, is expected to participate in the event Sunday.
More information can be found on Guzak’s Yoga Circle Studio website or by calling 360-568-1000.
New insurance-parity requirements: New standards and tools for measuring parity between mental-health and medical and surgical insurance benefits took effect Wednesday, the state insurance commissioner said.
Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler said the rule aligns state and federal mental-health parity laws and creates standards or formulas for health insurers, who must show the state Office of the Insurance Commissioner how they are delivering mental-health services and substance-use-disorder treatments, compared to medical and surgical benefits.
