Prep boys basketball: Edmonds-Woodway 65, Mountlake Terrace 49

EDMONDS — Benji Parrilla converted three of his four 3-pointers in a big second quarter help Edmonds-Woodway pull away from Mountlake Terrace in a Wesco 3A South victory on Thursday night.

The Warriors (2-0, 5-1) and Hawks (1-1, 2-5) battled to a 6-6 tie after the first quarter, but both offenses picked up in the remainder of the game.

Edmonds-Woodway used its defense to power its offense in a 27-point second quarter that gave it a 15-point halftime advantage that it maintained the rest of the way.

“We picked up full-court and pressed pretty much all game,” Edmonds-Woodway coach Robert Brown said. “It seemed like it caused Mountlake Terrace some problems in the second quarter, and we were able to get some easy buckets.”

Parrilla and Jordan Rice each had 12 points for Edmonds-Woodway, which placed four players in double-figures.

Gabe Altenberger paced Mountlake Terrace with 13 points.
