PORTLAND, Ore. — The Boeing subsidiary based in the Columbia River Gorge, Insitu Inc., has won a $41 million Pentagon contract to build three Blackjack drone systems for the Navy.

The Oregonian reported the Blackjack is the successor to the ScanEagle system, equipped to hold a variety of audio and video surveillance equipment.

The contract will pay for three of the systems, including launch and recovery of the unmanned aircraft.

The drones are built in Bingen, Washington, and are scheduled to be completed in January 2016.
