Fans attending Edmonds Stadium events will soon enjoy better sound. The Edmonds School Board on Dec. 9 voted to spend $250,000 to replace the stadium’s obsolete system by April — in time for the bulk of track and field events.
Construction is expected to begin in January. Money comes from the 2006 bond. The audio quality at Edmonds Stadium has been the subject of discussion for years.
The district will continue its $6,000 annual contract with Morgan Sound for graduation ceremonies, which involve additional audio equipment for which administrators say they lack expertise to manage.
Keep pipes warm in cold temps: Folks at Mountlake Terrace City Hall want to remind people to keep an eye on their pipes during freezing weather.
When temperatures drop, garden hoses should be disconnected, outside faucets turned off and sprinkler systems drained. Inside, cabinets should be left open and insulation added to vulnerable pipes.
Emergency classes in south county: Community emergency-response classes are being offered next year by the Emergency Services Coordinating Agency in Brier. Topics include first aid, firefighting and other life-saving skills.
The next class starts Jan. 15 and runs on Thursday evenings for eight weeks. Cost is $45.
