The Athletes of the Week are selected by The Herald sports staff with input from area coaches.

Sam Saufferer

Jackson | Boys Basketball

The junior scored a season-high 34 points in Tuesday’s victory over Snohomish and added 15 in a victory over Lake Stevens on Friday as the Timberwolves improved to 3-0 in Wesco 4A play.

Sadie Mensing

Glacier Peak | Girls Basketball

The senior scored 23 points in a victory over Shorecrest on Friday and had 15 in Wednesday’s victory over Meadowdale.

Marcus Beccera

Glacier Peak | Wrestling

Trailing Everett’s Anthony Brown 10-2 late in Tuesday’s match at 192 pounds, Beccera scored a reversal and followed it up with a pin. His victory helped the Grizzlies stay unbeaten so far this season.
