Russell Wilson missed out on Pro Bowl honors, which were announced Tuesday, but the Seahawks quarterback was named NFC offensive player of the week a day later, his second POW award this season and the fourth of his career.
Wilson passed for 339 yards and two touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals and rushed for 88 more with another score. By doing that, he became the first player in NFL history to have two games with 300-plus passing yards and 85-plus rushing yards in a career, and he did both this season.
As for Wilson missing out on the Pro Bowl, he has a good case—he’s got a good chance to become the first quarterback with 3,500 passing yards and 900 rushing yards in a season—and most importantly to Pete Carroll, he rarely turns the ball over. But unfortunately for Wilson, there were a lot of other quarterbacks who have put up good numbers this season, and whether they should or not, most fans and players who vote on the Pro Bowl are going to put a lot more value in passing numbers than they do rushing number for a quarterback.
