Belated ‘thank you’ to off-duty officer

I am writing this letter a year late, but given the current news, it is still very timely.

Last year my husband and I arrived home late on a winter’s evening. While we were out, it had snowed heavily. Our home is at the top of a steep hill, and our car couldn’t make it up because of the ice. While we were deciding how to make it up the slippery road, a man and wife out enjoying a walk in the snow came up to our car. Seeing that we were an older couple, the man offered to help us walk up the hill — he helped my husband first, then came back and helped me.

I found out that he was an off-duty Everett police officer, who lived here in Mukilteo. I didn’t get his name to write him a thank you note, so am writing this as a belated “Thank you.” I hope he sees this and remembers the incident. In light of all the horrible things being said about our police in this country, I think we all should show more appreciation to our police and the work they do.

God bless them all.
