PORTLAND, Ore. — The National Weather Service says a winter storm is coming to Portland and northwest Oregon Sunday night or Monday.
The Oregonian reported high winds, snow in the high elevations and bitter cold will be arriving overnight Sunday.
Forecasters expect snow accumulations in the mountains and foothills of one to four inches.
By Monday morning, there could be accumulations of up to an inch at elevations as low as 1,000 feet.
The wind is expected to arrive mid-morning on Monday, with gusts up to 60 or 70 miles per hour by Monday night in the Columbia River Gorge.
Then a cold snap is expected to continue through New Year’s Day. In the Cascades, temperatures could fall into the single digits and possibly below zero. For Portland and the rest of the Willamette Valley, temperatures in the 20s and 30s are forecast.
