Sue VanDlac dreads the intersection of Casino Road and Evergreen Way. “Drivers often run red or block the intersection. I’ve gotten so I go different streets to avoid it,” she said.
The proximity of this intersection to Highway 526 (Boeing Freeway) doesn’t make things easier, particularly during peak hours when a large number of drivers try to get on eastbound 526.
“During heavy congestion the eastbound on-ramp to SR 526 is a large contributing factor to why vehicles sometimes block the Casino-Evergreen intersection for short periods of time,” said Marla Carter, a spokesperson for Everett Public Works. “Next year we plan to update the signal timing. This will result in additional amounts of green time for all legs of this intersection, however Ms. VanDlac’s concerns may still be experienced any time there is a freeway incident or added congestion on SR 526.”
The signal upgrades are expected in fall 2015.
