EVERETT — Plans for building a complex of off-road motorcycle tracks near Granite Falls are facing three new appeals.
A Snohomish County hearing examiner on Dec. 23 approved Kirkland-based MXGP’s proposal to build the project on forestland along the Mountain Loop Highway. That decision came over the objections of neighbors and environmentalists.
MXGP has been seeking approval to build the project on the 437-acre property since 2007.
The new appeals were filed with the County Council last week. One combines concerns of the nonprofit Mountain Loop Conservancy, the Pilchuck Audubon Society and the North Cascades Conservation Council. Two others were filed by individuals, Ginger Amundson and Martin H. Robinett.
The council must determine whether the hearing examiner made any legal errors by granting MXGP’s request for a conditional use permit and a rezone of the property. An appeal hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Feb. 11 on the eighth floor of the county’s Robert Drewel Building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
