Marilyn de Soto of Snohomish noted a problem on 180th Street SE between 35th Avenue SE and Sunset Road, just east of Mill Creek in unincorporated Snohomish County.
“There are no lines on the shoulder where signs caution ‘dropoff’; also the middle line is not complete,” she said. “A lot of road work has been done here with tearing up, then repaving, but it appears that it is not complete.”
She said she hoped the lines would be painted soon. “This can be a foggy area and difficult to see, especially at night and in rainy and foggy weather.”
Owen Carter, Snohomish County’s deputy director of Public Works and the county engineer, had this to say: “I want to thank you, Marilyn, for bringing this to our attention. This roadway was scheduled to be striped last fall; unfortunately the weather changed prior to getting the work done so it was delayed until next spring. However I have asked my staff to watch for a day when the roadway is dry and the temperature is acceptable and have the roadway striped then. Thank you again for notifying us about this issue.”
The weather cleared, and on Jan. 14 crews put up reflective stakes and painted the stripes. The quick changes didn’t go unnoticed.
“Yeah! Thanks to you, Street Smarts, and the county for this safety measure,” de Soto said.
