Want to have a say on toll rates for the future I-405 HOT lanes coming this fall?
The Washington State Transportation Commission meets Jan. 21-22 and toll rates on I-405 are among the planned discussions. The meeting starts 9 a.m. Jan. 21, and 8:30 a.m. Jan. 22, at the Transportation Building, 310 Maple Park Ave. SE, on the Capitol Campus in Olympia. This meeting is open to the public and public comment periods are at 4:45 p.m. Jan. 21, and at noon Jan. 22.
The commission will likely release its toll rate proposal in February, at which time it will launch a full public review and input process, prior to making any final decisions on policies or rates.
Proposals batted around so far include defining a carpool as at least three people during peak hours and charging variable toll rates based on traffic volume, from 75 cents to $15, although usually no more than $4.
Express toll lanes will run from Lynnwood to Bellevue. Camera equipment already is up for testing.
