American Airlines gets its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner

EVERETT — American Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The airline took ownership of the aircraft, N800AN, on Thursday, a Boeing spokesman said.

It is expected to depart Friday morning, but the spokesman would not confirm that.

American was originally supposed to get the aircraft in November, but delivery problems with the airplane’s lie-flat seats delayed the hand over until now.

Boeing wouldn’t say if the top-end seats are now coming at the necessary rate.

A Boeing employee familiar with the program said that the issue has not been resolved.
