LYNNWOOD — Meadowdale held Glacier Peak to a season-low 40 points, allowing just one double digit scorer, in a 55-40 upset victory Friday night, handing the Grizzlies their first Wesco 3A South loss.
“Obviously it’s huge to say the least,” Meadowdale head coach Andy Streit said. “They are the class of the league and we knew it was going to be a battle. We had been building towards this point the whole year.”
The Mavericks used a 16-8 fourth quarter to pull away from the Grizzlies and earn their third league victory of the season.
“We played really good defense and rebounded well the whole game,” Streit said. “We communicated on defense and worked hard, and fortunately we were able to convert enough on offense to withstand (the Grizzlies).”
Charlie White led the Mavericks with a game-high 19 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists.
“Charlie can play like that every night,” Streit said. “I’m not going to say I’m surprised but it’s nice to see him playing the way he is capable. He is a leader for us on both ends.”
Zach Argue scored 15 points for the Grizzlies.
