Beach Watchers is looking for people who enjoy hanging out on the beach and have some spare time to devote to volunteering.
Training for the WSU Snohomish County Extension Beach Watchers program begins in April.
The training is extensive, and includes 80 hours of classroom and field work along with 20 hours of hands-on training. Volunteers help protect Puget Sound’s waters, wildlife and landscape through education, research and stewardship.
After the training period, volunteers will need to dedicate at least 100 hours over two years. Volunteers choose projects that suit their skills and interests.
The training is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays from April 3 to May 15 and Sept. 11 to Oct. 16 at McCollum Park in Everett. There is a $35 fee for training materials. Applications are due March 13.
