I never thought I’d be posting anything in this space about Katy Perry, yet here we are.
The pop star who will be performing at halftime of the Super Bowl held a press conference, and for no logical reason, I decided to check it out. And if you thought sports media was bad, just know that somebody from Entertainment Tonight opened the presser by asking to take a selfie with Perry.
While most of what Perry said had nothing to do with football, she did have a funny moment of channeling Marshawn Lynch, answering a question by saying “I’m just here so I don’t get fined.” When the reporter followed up with a question, Perry repeated the line, which Lynch made popular during Media Day Tuesday.
As for her pick in the game, Perry said she’s going with the Seahawks because she’s apparently friends with Russell Wilson and the two text on occasion.
And for what it’s worth, Idina Menzel, who is performing the National Anthem, said she’s also rooting for the Seahawks, because as a New Yorker she has to root against the Patriots.
