Local Seahawks fans have a chance to see Norm Johnson, a former kicker with the team, and shout out support for the Hawks at a 12th Man rally scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday at the Snohomish County Plaza in downtown Everett.
And several big venues will open their doors Sunday for free public viewing and other events surrounding the Super Bowl.
Organized by Fox Sports 1380 and the Snohomish County Sea Hawkers, the Snohomish County Blue Friday Rally will also feature appearances by County Executive John Lovick, Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson and the Everett Silvertips and Everett AquaSox mascots.
On its Facebook page Thursday, KRKO-AM announced that Johnson, a Seahawk from 1982 to 1990, will be “our special guest” at the rally. A leading field goal kicker, Johnson was nicknamed “Mr. Automatic” during his time with the Seahawks, and in 2010 he was a member of the Seahawks 35th Anniversary Team.
Jeff Aaron, “The Fish,” will host his “Football Friday” radio show, on KRKO-AM (1380), live from the rally. There will be a 12th Man flag-raising, prizes and a “fan mob” dance. The plaza is at the corner of Wall Street and Oakes Avenue.
Also Friday, a 30-ton Sherman tank bearing a Seahawks flag will be driven at Paul Allen’s Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field. The tank will add to Hawks mania with a boom when its gun is fired at 1 p.m. Friday.
Visitors will be able to get close to the tank to shoot a “Twelfie” for social media. Tickets to the venue housing an airplane and armor collection are required, but fans wearing Seahawks gear will get $2 off admission Friday. Cost is $14, $12 for seniors or military, $10 for ages 6-17, free for children under 5. The Flying Heritage Collection is at 3407 109th St. SW, Everett.
The Seahawks-Patriots Super Bowl game will air at 3:30 p.m. Sunday on NBC.
