UW Bothell adds new assistant vice chancellor

Beth Beam has been selected as the new assistant vice chancellor for organizational effectiveness and HR management at the University of Washington Bothell. In this newly created position, Beam will provide strategic leadership in the planning and implementation of human resources programs. The position will also provide leadership, transparency and coordination of improvement efforts in academic and administrative units.

State Commerce Department wins recognition for effort to land 777X

Efforts to keep Boeing’s next-generation commercial aircraft, the 777X, in Washington State, earned Washington’s Department of Commerce the 2014 Economic Development Deal of the Year Silver Award, presented by Business Facilities magazine. Washington was in competition with two dozen other states for the project. The 777 program currently supports 56,900 jobs in the state and $3.5 billion in annual wages.

‘Startup Success’ class planned for Tuesday

GROW Washington is presenting Startup Success, a small business startup and training class, beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce. The classes are open to all. Revenue offers help for businesses filing taxes

Washington State Department of Revenue is offering tips to help businesses file their taxes on time. Every annual filer – even if they had no business activity in 2014 – must file a tax return with Revenue by today. Businesses can visit the website here, use the live chat feature, call 800-647-7706 or visit a Revenue office.

Chambers of commerce join to lobby Legislature

The Association of Washington Business, 36 local chambers of commerce throughout the state and Economic Alliance Snohomish County, came together to form a new Grassroots Alliance. As a group, the participants chose three key issues to focus on in the 2015 legislative session: education and workforce development, transportation infrastructure investments, and the minimum wage.
