It turns out those “What will Richard Sherman do if his baby comes before the Super Bowl?” scenarios weren’t too farfetched after all, because just four days after the Seahawks’ 28-24 loss in Super Bowl XLIX, Sherman’s girlfriend Ashley Moss gave birth to the couple’s son, Rayden, a week before her due date.
As Sherman pointed out announcing the birth on Twitter, Rayden had good timing, with No. 25’s son coming on 2/5.
My son sure does know how to make an entrance! 2/5/15… Is it a coincidence or is he just that clever?! Either way I’m ecstatic

Haven’t felt anything better than this! Thank you God such a blessing!

In the week leading up to the Super Bowl, Sherman said he and Moss, who came to Arizona for the came, had a plan in place should she go into labor before the game, though he wouldn’t say what that plan was. Sherman joked that his son would be a “disciplined young man and stay in there until after the game,” and he did just that, though only by a few days.
As happy as Sherman and Moss are today, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, who joked before the Super Bowl that he couldn’t wait to meet little Petey, may be disappointed with the choice of name.
