Hey kids, it’s time to rock’n’roll.
Kidstock! 2015 is 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Edmonds Center for the Arts.
“It is really a community event,” said Gillian Jones, the center’s education and outreach manager. “It’s a free family art celebration.”
That’s right. Free.
This is the third year of the event started in response to demand from families for affordable arts programming, she said. “It is important to have the community feel welcome and it’s not about ticket prices,” Jones said.
Last year’s event drew about 2,000 people. This year, the first 550 families get a goodie bag with a free CD by Seattle kid-indie band Recess Monkey, which performs at 9:45 a.m.
The event has bands, theater performance, arts education and workshops. Attractions include bouncy houses set up in the gym, Seattle Shakespeare Company’s costume photo booth and a design station for kids to help create a button for next year’s Kidstock! 2016.
