EVERETT — There’s a new undersheriff in town.
Corrections bureau chief Rob Beidler was sworn in on Monday as the department’s second in command. He replaces Brent Speyer, who retired.
Beidler has been with the sheriff’s office since 1993, steadily moving up through the ranks. He holds a business degree with an emphasis in human resources.
Along the way, he’s served in patrol and marine units and in a wide variety of positions that include being a field training officer, the chief of Sultan police, a member of the SWAT team and commander in both the east and south precincts.
Sheriff Ty Trenary recently made the announcement.
“Ty and I are both incredibly passionate about the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and the people who work for this agency,” Beidler said.
The promotion led to a series of other personnel changes.
Corrections Major Tony Aston was appointed corrections bureau chief, replacing Beidler.
Corrections Capt. Jamie Kane was appointed to corrections major. In turn, corrections Sgt. Kristina Witte was appointed to corrections captain.
“The reaction from the corrections line staff was great,” said sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shari Ireton. “There was lots of applause.”
In addition, deputies Tom Morris and Vince Linnell were promoted to patrol sergeants and Scott Lewis to corrections sergeant.
Lt. Steve Dittoe recently announced his retirement and Sgt. Todd Swenson received a provisional appointment to lieutenant to fill the void.
