Prep boys basketball: Jackson 66, Mariner 54

MILL CREEK — It’s a new season and a lot of new faces for the Jackson boys basketball team.

However, it’s the same result for the Timberwolves.

Jackson closed out its regular season with a 66-54 Wesco 4A victory over Mariner, clinching the Timberwolves’ sixth-consecutive regular-season title.

“I think it’s been six in a row, now,” Jackson head coach Steve Johnson said. “I’m just really humbled and proud to be a coach of a program that can lose 10 seniors like that and turn around and win the regular season title the next year. A lot of people have worked really hard to bring this program up to that level.”

Jackson’s Colton Faddis posted his second straight double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Sam Saufferer netted a game-high 24 points for the Timberwolves (13-1 league, 15-5 overall) and senior Frank Rossi added 16 points as Jackson ended its season with a five-game winning streak.

DeRhaun Mallett led Mariner (5-9, 9-11) with 22 points.
