TULALIP — A felon with a long rap sheet and a history of making threats could be headed back to prison six months after his most recent release.
John Keinath, 43, whose street name is “Road Flare,” was taken into custody Tuesday night when the North County Property Crimes Unit served a search warrant on a Tulalip residence. He was booked into the Marysville City Jail on misdemeanor warrants.
The Marysville man is expected to be transferred to the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of trafficking in stolen property, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms and drug possession, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
Keinath was convicted in 2010 of harassment and possessing a controlled substance. He reportedly flew into a rage and threatened to kill a nurse who thought he was joking about wanting to name his newborn son after mob boss John Gotti.
Gotti also spent time in prison before he rose to the top spot in the Gambino crime family. He became infamous as the “Dapper Don,” a nod to his wardrobe and flashy style. Gotti died in 2002. He spent the final decade of his life behind bars after being convicted of ordering mob hits.
Keinath’s felony convictions include a drive-by shooting and beating someone with a piece of pipe.
No use of force was required when Keinath was taken into custody Tuesday night, Ireton said.
His girlfriend, 22, also was detained on misdemeanor warrants.
The search warrant was served late Tuesday in the 13000 block of Eighth Drive NW with assistance from a SWAT team, the sheriff’s office air unit, the Bellingham Police Department and Marysville Fire Department.
Police found two handguns inside the house, as well as small quantities of suspected methamphetamine and heroin, Ireton said.
Four vehicles were impounded and detectives were requesting a warrant to search the cars for additional evidence, including weapons, drugs and stolen property, Ireton said.
Keinath was released from prison in July 2013 after serving a sentence for attempting to elude police.
He was arrested in that case three days after driving a motorcycle more than 100 mph on Highway 9 to escape sheriff’s deputies.
The chase started in Lake Stevens and included two Homeland Security helicopters.
