SEATTLE — Prosecutors say a college student used a simple scheme to bilk the University of Washington, netting nearly $32,000.
KOMO-TV reports that campus police say the student was a cashier at the University Instructional Center. Court records allege that when students returned course packets, the student gave himself unauthorized refunds on his UW Husky Card.
Over a three-year period he is accused of buying things like an Apple computer, an iPad and calculators at the university bookstore, then selling the items on Craigslist.
The scheme was finally caught through an audit.
