I rarely read Eugene Robertson’s column, because I truthfully can’t stand the man, Pulitzer prize or not.
I read his Sunday article because of its headline “With a little compromise GOP could go a long way.” Mr. Robinson writes that the GOP shot themselves in both feet by not compromising on Obama’s unconstitutional actions on Immigration by not fully funding the Department of Homeland Security’s budget. Their bill would not effect anything in their budget other than that. He stated that they were putting our country’s security in jeopardy in view of the threats out there.
Since when is Obama concerned by threats to our country? He has created a virtual minefield of geo-political tension and conflict by pulling all our troops out of Iraq and allowing ISIS to fill the vacuum. Not only Iraq but parts of Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Libya. Soon it will be the entire Middle East including, Afghanistan when we pull out this year. Is Pakistan next? Remember they have the bomb and they are and have been ripe for takeover.
All the while this is going on he continues to stall on sanctions on Iran to prevent them from getting a nuclear bomb and shunning Israel in the process. He released five very bad war criminals from Gitmo in trade for the release of one Army deserter. Again without the blessing of Congress.
In case you don’t recognize it yet these are all campaign promises being fulfilled, unconstitutional or not. Finally Mr. Robinson calls the GOP’s resistance to Obama’s actions” juvenile behavior.” The current Congress was elected to straighten out the mess that Obama and his party have created over the years. Hopefully they will do their utmost to make this happen. Compromising with Obama’s ill conceived actions will not accomplish their voter mandate.
