PORT ANGELES — A public health official says a second case of measles has been confirmed on the Olympia Peninsula, this time in a 5-year-old girl.
The Peninsula Daily News reported that area public health officer Dr. Tom Locke says tests showed Thursday that the girl has measles. The unidentified child is at home.
Locke says anyone exposed to the child Wednesday in a Port Angeles clinic waiting room will be contacted.
The doctor says a 52-year-old Clallam County man hospitalized with measles on Feb. 1 in Port Angeles has recovered and was discharged Thursday. Locke says the man had other medical conditions as well.
State health officials earlier said the Clallam County man was the fourth Washington state person confirmed with measles this year.
More than 70 people in California — including six Disneyland employees — and about two dozen others in six states, Mexico and Canada have been sickened in a recent measles outbreak.
