ARLINGTON — Arlington handily defeated Shorewood by 47 points in the first round of the 3A district 1 girls basketball tournament on Friday. Serefina Balderas led all scorers with 13 points and three 3-pointers and Peyton Brown added 12 for the Eagles. Shorewood was led by Taryn Shelley with six points.
Arlington will face Glacier Peak in the semifinals at 7:45 p.m. at Jackson High School on Tuesday. Shorewood will face Ferndale at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in a loser-out game at Ferndale High School.
