We expect others to obey traffic laws on our public streets for the safety of all.
We expect builders to conform to building regulations for the safety of all who live in their homes, or work in their buildings.
We expect public and private companies to conform to Occupational and Safety Health Administration rules for the safety of all.
We expect public transportation drivers to conform to the rules and regulations, be trained and certified for the safety of all.
We expect our health care providers be trained and certified for the safety of all.
We expect our teachers, para-educators, support staff in our public schools to be well trained, back ground checks, and are held to a high standard of excellence for the emotional, educational, physical safety of all.
Why shouldn’t we expect that we can send our children and grandchildren into the public schools and expect they will not be exposed to un-vaccinated children. Not all children can be vaccinated because of medical reasons. Not all adults can be vaccinated for those same reasons. Many are allergic, some are immune compromised, and other health related problems. They should feel safe to enter the public schools.
Should government mandate vaccinations? No, that should be parent choice.
But should the public schools be mandated to take students whose parents just don’t believe in vaccinations, or have fallen victim to believing junk science, be allowed to comprise the health of others? No.
