EVERETT — The Jackson girls basketball team wasted no time jumping on Mount Vernon on Tuesday afternoon, building a 24-8 lead after one quarter and a 41-14 margin at halftime on the way to a 64-32 victory over the Bulldogs in a District 1 loser-out game at Everett Community College.
With the victory, the Timberwolves move on to face Monroe, which defeated Kamiak 51-26 on Tuesday, in a 3 p.m. Thursday game, also at Everett CC.
The winner of Thursday’s game will face the loser of Thursday’s Lake Stevens-Snohomish district championship game at noon Saturday for the district’s second and final spot in the regional tournament.
Jackson spread its scoring among nine players, with four players scoring in double figures. Leading the way was junior wing Drew Locknane with 15 points, followed by junior guard Imari Clinton with 12, junior guard Olivia Miller with 11 (including three 3-pointers) and junior post Kassaundra Jackson with 10.
Mount Vernon saw its season ended with the defeat.
