EVERETT — The pedestrian killed early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 529 has been identified as a 53-year-old Everett man.
James Martin Mahood was found around 3:30 a.m. by someone driving near Union Slough along the southbound lanes of Highway 529, officials said.
Mahood died at the scene.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner reported that Mahood died of multiple blunt force injuries. His manner of death was described as an accident.
The Everett Police Department’s collision investigation unit has not found any witnesses to the crash.
It also does not know the make or model of the vehicle involved, said Everett police officer Aaron Snell.
Detectives believe the vehicle would have sustained some front end damage, Snell said.
It was not clear which direction Mahood was walking when he was hit nor how much time elapsed until he was found, Snell said.
Conditions were described as foggy in that area between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The highway was closed near the Steamboat Slough Bridge for more than 90 minutes while police investigated the crash scene, according to a Washington State Department of Transportation memo.
Everett police are asking anyone who has information about the crash to call 911.
