Marshawn Lynch’s offseason has more twists and turns than a soap opera.
The latest is a firestorm surrounding an upcoming biopic about his life, “Family First: The Marshawn Lynch Story.” After a trailer for the movie dropped on Tuesday, the Internet’s judgment of it was swift and harsh, and Lynch reportedly went “Beast Mode” on the filmmaker.
Director Mario Bobino told TMZ, “I’ve known Marshawn his whole life. All of the sudden he’s mad at me and now doesn’t want the film to see the light of day.”
The official trailer was taken down, but unofficial versions live on, and they reveal a tour de force:
Lynch, of course, has already proven his acting chops in his Beacon Plumbing commercials.
The movie drama comes on the heels of the news that Lynch applied for a trademark for his famous phrase from the Super Bowl, “I’m just here so I won’t get fined.” So in the future if you want a T-shirt sporting that phrase to wear to work, Lynch will get his cut of the action.
Speaking of action, Lynch also owns the trademark for “About that action, boss.” No word yet on whether he’ll seek a trademark for some of his other famous phrases, such as “I’m thankful” and “Yeah.”
Meanwhile, nobody knows yet if he’s even playing football next season. Reports surfaced on Saturday night that he had agreed to a new deal with the Seahawks, then Lynch’s agent shot down those reports.
The new deal would reportedly pay him $12 million next season. Maybe Lynch is waiting on a counteroffer from Hollywood.
