WINLOCK — Lewis County officials believe a woman and two girls died in a house fire early Thursday in the southwest Washington town of Winlock.
Lewis County Fire District 15 says the victims were unable to escape the flames after the fire broke out after midnight in the two-story home. A man and two boys got out safely.
About 20 firefighters from Winlock, Toledo, Vader and Napavine responded, and firefighting continued to 6 a.m.
The Chronicle reports daylight showed the home destroyed. The coroner was at the scene for a search of the debris.
Winlock police are investigating the apparent deaths and cause of the fire.
