Jet: Kids can build a model jet and learn basic woodworking skills and tool safety at 2 p.m. March 19 at the Everett Public Library, Evergreen Branch, 9512 Evergreen Way. Space limited to first 30 kids, ages 5 to 12. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.

Anniversary: Marysville will celebrate its 125th anniversary March 19 at Ebey Waterfront Park from 1 p.m. to dusk, when a fireworks show is planned. There will be a number of artisans doing demonstrations including blacksmithing, bow making, pottery making, wood carving, soap making and more. There will also be crafts and other activities for kids. A lumberjack show is at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and a log float is at 4:30 p.m.; www.marysvillewa.gov.

Marine: Learn about diving into the chilly waters of Puget Sound at 1:30 p.m. March 19 at the Mountlake Terrace Library. This event for kids 5 to 15 will talk about the gear needed and show a slide presentation. Sea shells, shark teeth, photos and more will be available for kids to examine. Whales: It’s whale season. Take a cruise from Everett and look for gray whales. It’s a fun time, as our reporter found out when she went out for a trip. Get the details in our story.

Tulips: The official start of the 33rd annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is nearly two weeks away, but the tulips are early. If you head north to the valley this weekend, you will see colorful flower fields. A great place to start is Tulip Town at 15002 Bradshaw Road, located west of Mount Vernon.

Beer: The Washington Cask Beer Festival is Saturday at Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. Sample a wide variety of cask-conditioned beers from more than 40 Washington breweries. There will be two sessions: noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $40 advance and $45 at the door, and include a tasting glass and up to 25 tastes.
