TULALIP — Police have closed their investigation into one of two fatal crashes on Marine Drive on the Tulalip Indian Reservation in August.
Cody J. Dunn, 25, was under the influence of a controlled substance when he crossed the center lane on Aug. 28 and caused the collision that ended his life, according to a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office report. No charges are expected in the case.
Dunn was westbound and his vehicle struck an eastbound Chevrolet Suburban, the report says. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time. Speed was a factor in the crash but was not significantly higher than the posted 35 mph limit, detectives wrote.
Two days before Dunn’s death, an Oklahoma woman died in a one-car crash on Marine Drive at Hermosa Beach Drive. Gina M. Fletcher was 47. Her husband had been driving and also was injured. That investigation is ongoing.
