Regional preview: Lynnwood girls vs. Central Kitsap

When: Saturday, 6 p.m.

Where: Everett Community College

Classification: 3A

Records: Central Kitsap 20-4; Lynnwood 21-2

AP Rankings: Central Kitsap (not ranked); Lynnwood (No. 1).

How they got to regionals: Central Kitsap defeated Lakes 69-41 to secure the fifth and final seed from its bi-district tournament. Lynnwood defeated Glacier Peak 48-42 in the 3A Northwest District championship game to capture the top seed.

Players to watch: Central Kitsap—Taylor Krouse, Sr., G; Maddie White, Sr., G. Lynnwood—Monty Cooper, Sr., W; Jordyn Edwards, Jr., W; Mikayla Pivec, Jr., W; Kelsey Rogers, So., P.

Breakdown: As a Class 4A school a year ago, Lynnwood fell to Gonzaga Prep in the state semifinals and went on to place third in the tournament. The Royals certainly haven’t forgotten that they fell short of their goal a year ago and are looking to bring home the state championship this season. Central Kitsap comes into the game with an impressive record and the Royals have to guard against overlooking the Cougars, but Lynnwood should be back in Tacoma for a second consecutive season.
