The Seahawks signed linebacker Mister Alexander on Monday, according to a league source. Alexander, who went undrafted out of Florida State in 2011, has appeared in 14 games in his NFL career, all with Houston in 2011 and 2012. He spent the 2014 season on Dallas’ practice squad.
The 26-year-old Alexander, who is listed at 6-3, 252 pounds, could provide depth at linebacker if the Seahawks lose Malcolm Smith, an unrestricted free agent, or Mike Morgan, a restricted free agent.
UPDATE: Alexander’s signing is now official, having been listed on the league’s daily transaction report. As expected, that transaction report did not include the Seahawks using the franchise or transition tag on any player before Monday’s deadline. GM John Schneider had told reporters at the combine that the Seahawks didn’t expect to use the franchise tag.
