EVERETT — One of the Northwest’s largest aerospace suppliers is expanding — in South Carolina.
Boeing has improved 787 production there, spurring AMT Senior Aerospace, an Arlington-based company, to open a 39,000-square-foot site in North Charleston, South Carolina, reports Puget Sound Business Journal’s Steve Wilhelm.
The new facility will focus on just-in-time deliveries for the 787 line there. It is expected to have about 60 employees, a city spokesman told the Journal.
The expansion does not signal the decline of Washington’s aerospace sector. Boeing has one assembly line there — for the 787, and it plans to assemble its newest airplanes — the 737 MAX and 777X — in Washington.
AMT Senior Aerospace does work for the Boeing 737, 777 and 787, as well as Bombardier and Gulfstream jets, according to the company’s website.
