SILVANA — A fatal one-car crash in Silvana on Dec. 21 has been attributed to alcohol and marijuana.
Zachary S. Thede, 21, of Stanwood, was over the legal limit for both substances when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. He also was speeding.
Thede’s car struck a guardrail, then a telephone pole about 1:15 a.m. along Pioneer Highway a mile west of I-5. No one else was in the car.
The county Medical Examiner earlier had ruled the death an accident. Sheriff’s detectives recently closed their case as well, officials said Tuesday.
