SEATTLE — Federal prosecutors say two men whose hash oil operation exploded in Kirkland have been sentenced to prison terms.
They’ll also have to pay $97,000 for damage to their apartment building, the Inglenook Apartments.
The men, Robby Wayne Meiser and Bruce W. Mark, had been using butane to extract hash oil from marijuana. The explosion, on New Year’s Day, 2014, pushed the north wall of their apartment outward by about eight inches and separated it from the roof. Both men suffered burns.
U.S. District Judge John Coughenour sentenced Meiser to two and a half years in prison for endangering human life while manufacturing drugs. Mark got 18 months.
Acting Seattle U.S. Attorney Annette Hayes says federal charges have been filed in connection with three other hash oil-related explosions in Western Washington.
