Players to watch
Lydia Giomi, West Seattle: The 6-foot-6 junior was the Metro League MVP, averaging 14.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game for the Wildcats.
Jayde Christopher, Cleveland: The Kansas recruit is the floor general for the two-time defending state champs, averaging over seven assists per game.
Shelby Cansler, Bellevue: The junior averages over 15 points and five rebounds per game and has helped the Wolverines to a top-five state finish in each of the last two seasons.
The Favorite: Lynnwood
The Royals drew a difficult first-round matchup in No. 2-ranked West Seattle, but there is a reason Lynnwood is No. 1. This tournament is loaded with talent, but the Royals stand out above the rest.
The Herald predicts …
Mikayla Pivec and Jordyn Edwards lead Lynnwood past West Seattle on Thursday, past Bellevue in Friday’s semifinals and past two-time defending champion Cleveland in Saturday’s championship game.
